Below you will find samples of each report that is submitted throughout the year. The formatting is slightly different since this is a web page. However, it should give you the basics of what should be included.
What NOT to do when doing your progress reports:
Progress Made: All work was completed and was satisfactory.
Progress Made: We covered addition and subtraction.
Progress Made: We read lots of books.
Progress Made: Giving me the entire scope & sequence of what was studied over the course of the year.
**Only subjects that you are formally studying need to be included on the form. If you aren't formally studying one of the subjects, you may leave it blank.
PLEASE be detailed in your progress made sections on ALL reports!!! It does not have to be long, but it does need to speak to the progress that was made. How did they show that they made progress? If you were to sit down and chat with a friend about what your child has achieved this year, what would you say? Do that in your progress report. Brag about your kiddo. Now's the time! If you have any questions, please contact me so you do not have to redo your reports. Thanks!

Progress Made:
We are still working on finding our groove for this year. Some of the curriculum seems to be a good fit while other programs aren’t. We're working on being diligent in our work and completing it. We are switching up our history program and I hope that helps make it a bit more enjoyable as well as helping him be more successful in that subject.

Mid-Year Report
These reports are typically due in mid-January. Again, check the school calendar each year for the current due date. Then submit using the Mid-Year Report link above. Sometimes it may be helpful to first type your progress notes in a Word or Google Doc form and then cut/paste into the form. This would allow you to start it and finish it on different days and then quickly fill in the form to submit.

Boy Smith
2019-2020
180 Days Completed
Language Arts – 90
Materials Used:
Institute for Excellence in Writing – Level C
Illuminating Literature
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
Progress Made:
His writing skills have continued to improve. While it is not his favorite subject, he does well with it. He seemed to do well with the literature course. Again, it isn’t his favorite subject but he did well. I don’t think this subject will ever be a favorite.
Mathematics – 95
Materials Used:
Saxon Algebra 2
Virtual Homeschool Group
Progress Made:
Math is where he shines. We have been using Virtual Homeschool Group for a live class instruction. This seems to help him the most with understanding the new concepts. We will be moving to Saxon Advanced Mathematics which is a two year program that will take us through the rest of his high school career.
Science – 90
Materials Used:
Apologia Chemistry
Virtual Homeschool Group
Progress Made:
Chemistry was another good fit for him this year. He had the math skills necessary to do well. We also did a live class on Virtual Homeschool Group for this course as well. This was wonderful for when he was stuck on a concept. He could then ask the teacher for help. The experiments were his favorite part of the course. He did well setting them up and following the instructions each time.
Social Studies – 95
Materials Used:
Notgrass Exploring America
Progress Made:
Notgrass was a great program for him. He enjoyed the daily readings and learned lots he didn’t know about previously – specifically things about the Civil War. This encouraged him to jump off on his own project and read some extra books about the war and time period. We did not do many of the writing assignments due to the high volume of writing needed in the language arts curriculum we are using.
Fine Arts – 95
Materials Used:
Music Lessons, Art Lessons, Theater
Progress Made:
He started taking weekly piano lessons in February, he is really enjoying them. He has begun to play more complicated pieces. He continues to take twice a month art classes as part of a homeschool group. His drawings are getting better and better. It’s wonderful to see him enjoying this class. Theater was a hit this year. He really shined on stage and it was so fun to see him come out of his shell and do so well. We will definitely be doing this again next year.
Health/Physical Education – 90
Materials Used:
Karate, Health curriculum Alpha Omega
Progress Made:
He has continued to take karate twice a week and earned his yellow belt earlier this year. He is a very athletic and competitive child. He continues to do well with karate so we will be continuing this. We also used a health curriculum from Alpha-Omega this year that covered many aspects of what it means to be a healthy person. He completed all the workbooks but this was not his favorite way of learning.
Technology – 95
Materials Used:
Computer, Scratch
Progress Made:
If given the chance, he would be on the computer all day. We do use it for some of his online classes. He understands about internet safety and can easily use email and do a search. We also used a free program called Scratch this year to learn more about programming. He really enjoying this a lot and was able to make a short game that worked well. We will be continuing to explore this aspect of learning.
Bible – 98
Materials Used:
RightNow Media, Bible, church
Progress Made:
We used bible studies on RightNow Media. He seemed to gain a deeper understanding of God and the importance of daily Bible reading. We will continue to use this next year. In order to practice note taking, he also takes notes during the Sunday sermon.
