High School at Freedom Academy
Freedom Academy serves students through grade 12 and allows families to continue directing their children’s education at home throughout the high school years.
High school does not have to mean giving up the flexibility that brought your family to homeschooling. Parents remain responsible for choosing courses, curriculum and educational experiences that fit their student’s abilities, interests and future plans.
Some students may follow a traditional college-preparatory course of study. Others may focus more heavily on career preparation, trades, entrepreneurship, dual enrollment, employment, independent study or other interests.
Freedom Academy does not require families to use a particular curriculum or educational program.
Planning the High School Years
The high school years are a good time to begin thinking about what a student may want to do after graduation.
Families should consider the requirements of any colleges, training programs, military programs or careers the student may be interested in and plan coursework accordingly.

Families should keep good records of coursework, materials used, grades when applicable, credits and completed work throughout the high school years. Good recordkeeping makes future transcript preparation much easier.
Maine Community College Opportunities
Maine students may have opportunities to earn college credit while still in high school and to attend a Maine community college tuition-free after graduation.
Central Maine Community College offers early-college opportunities for eligible high school students, and Maine’s Free College Scholarship provides tuition-free community college to qualifying recent Maine high school graduates.
Eligibility requirements can change, so families should check directly with CMCC or the Maine Community College System when planning.
Progress Reports
Freedom Academy high school students complete the same required progress reports as other enrolled students.
These reports help document the student’s education throughout the school year and become especially useful when preparing high school records and transcripts.
Transcripts
High school transcripts are available through Freedom Academy for an additional fee.
Because each student’s education may look different, transcript preparation is not included in the basic annual enrollment fee. Families who expect to need a transcript should maintain accurate records throughout the high school years.
